TALK prides itself on providing courses in a variety of areas such as technology, history, science, health & wellness, arts & culture, travel and more. Something for everyone! Most TALK courses meet for one session of 90 minutes (online) or two hours (on-campus); a few TALK courses meet for two or more sessions, usually a week apart. Some courses are offered in-person on a KPU campus; some are online via Zoom; some are offsite.
TALK offers a variety of stimulating learning opportunities for adults over 50. Each TALK course is a short, informative, participatory session, led by an expert. No quizzes, grades or prerequisites.
Volunteering not only allows individuals to give back but also provides opportunities to develop new skills, stay socially active, and be part of a vibrant community of lifelong learners.
Volunteer Roles at TALK
Volunteering is an integral part of TALK’s success. Volunteers contribute by:
- Presenting courses: Share your expertise or interests by leading a TALK session.
- Organizing events: Help coordinate special events, guest speaker sessions, and public discussions.
- Supporting operations: Assist with registration, communication, and member services.
- Community outreach: Promote TALK in the local community to grow awareness and increase participation.
TALK is more than just courses!
We also host lively Philosophers’ Corners in Richmond, Surrey and Langley which are open to the public and you don’t have to be a TALK member or over 50 to attend. Each semester also has special events. TALK sessions are full of discussion, controversy, humour, and insights.
TALK’s Compelling Conversations
Futurist Jim Bottomley entertained and challenged us March 1 at KPU Richmond campus on the topic of How Can We Make YOUR Future Better? It was a very stimulating conversation, especially in light of the current geo-political situation! If you missed it, you can see the recording and his slides by clicking here.
We are all lifelong learners.
Here is a history of TALK’s 25 years.
