Student Volunteering

Many organizations welcome students as volunteers. The most important consideration is an interest in the mission of the organization you volunteer with. Volunteer for one or two positions at a time – you don’t want to overcommit. It’s easy to register for others down the road.

There are also event-centered opportunities with festivals and fairs (Aldergrove Agricultural Fair, Fort Langley Jazz and Arts Festival, Ribfest to name some) that need a good number of students to help in the Kidzones or other positions. These are generally held in the summer months and a great way to acquire volunteer hours while you help the community … and have some fun!

If you are a student looking for opportunities to help in your community or complete your work experience, check out the opportunities at bettercommunity.ca that show a student or WAVE icon. Positions with a WAVE icon may be eligible for WAVE credits. Once you are registered in the Better Community app, you can use keywords to search for volunteer opportunities for ‘students’ or ’16+’ etc. Many organizations state the minimum age in their listing … and don’t forget to check for the ‘student’ icon.
