Langley Animal Protection Society

Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) is a registered non-profit charitable society established in 2003 by a dedicated group of volunteers. They were eager to see positive change in the way stray, lost and unwanted animals were sheltered and cared for in Langley. In order to uphold these founding member’s values, we continue to focus on providing excellence to the community and overcoming the challenges facing animals in Langley.

LAPS is a small organization that needs the support of our volunteer community. They need volunteers for:

  • Dog Walker
  • Kennel Assistant
  • Community Events Team
  • Cat Care Team
  • Administrative Assistant
  • Grounds/Shelter Maintenance
  • Kitten Foster Home
  • Vet Appointment Driver

Volunteers greatly help with the life saving works at LAPS. Many of the animals need training, exercise, and medical care, in which the community is needed to make this happen.

Make A Difference

  • LAPS strives to make a difference for the animals they care for each year, and volunteers help with this a lot.
  • Volunteers go through training seminars, and opportunities for members of the public with disabilities and special needs are offered as well.
  • Community service workers can also fulfill their hours of volunteer time in the enriching environment at LAPS.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Volunteers must be at least 12 years old, and volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian
  • Volunteers must complete a general orientation and additional training sessions (if needed) before starting their duties
  • Volunteers must commit 2 or more hours per week for 6 months, and must have sufficient strength and fitness to meet volunteer position requirements
