Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley enables life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people. Since 1974, they have been matching children with adult role models in professionally supported mentoring relationships that help them achieve their biggest possible futures.

Make an Impact

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters creates mentoring relationships that can change young people’s lives.
  • Volunteer mentors will be provided training and professional support to express care, challenge growth, share power, provide support, and expand possibilities for their mentees.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • In-School Mentoring: This program provides elementary school students with an adult or teen role model to talk to. Mentors meet with their mentee one hour a week for the duration of the school year.
    • Adult: Age requirement is 18, the applicant must live or work in Langley, and be available during school hours
    • Teen: Age requirement is 15-18, and must be a student at the schools lists on their website.
  • Go Girls: This is a mentoring program for girls in grades 5-7 that focuses on balanced eating, self-esteem, and physical activity. The goal is to shape the lives of girls and young women.
    • The volunteer applicant must be 16+ and must live, work, or go to school in Langley.
  • Game On: This is a mentoring program for boys in grade 4 – 7 with info and support to make good choices about a range of healthy lifestyle practices.
    • The volunteer applicant must be 16+ and must live, work, or go to school in Langley
  • Explorations: Mentors assist children in building their skills in a chosen Explorations topic such as drawing, drama, baking, science, etc.
    • The volunteer applicant must be 16+ and must live, work, or go to school in Langley

Big Brother / Big Sister Mentor

  • This program provides young men (Big Brother Mentor) / girls and young women (Big Sister Mentor) with a friend and role model to share the experiences of growing up with.
  • With the regular outings, a relationship between the mentor and mentee is formed, built on trust and common interests.
  • This program is a life-changing experience for both the mentee and the mentor.
  • The volunteer mentor must be 19+, have access to a car, live or work in Langley, and be able to meet 2-4 hours weekly for a least 1 year.

For only a few hours per week, you can develop a positive friendship with a young person and help them achieve their biggest possible futures.
