BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation

BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization that works with educators to bring agriculture and food education to students throughout the province. Together with farmers, teachers, and agriculture specialists, they teach students about the story of our food and farming in British Columbia.

  • Ag Adventures Volunteer
  • General Volunteers (photography, guest speaking, special events, fundraising, silent auctions, gardening, and administration)

  • Board Members

West Vancouver Secondary: Soil Contamination Experiment (Spuds in Tubs Program)

What is the Spuds in Tubs Program?

BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation (BCAITC) has been providing schools across the province with an opportunity for teachers to grow potatoes in the classroom since 2006. For schools that may not have the resources for a garden, or that may just want a way of getting started down that path, Spuds in Tubs provides teachers with all the necessary materials and instructions they’ll need for growing their very own potatoes!

Are you seeking an opportunity to get outside and give back to BCAITC? Help with the packing and organization of the Spuds in Tubs program in February by signing up as a volunteer!

What is the Ag Adventures Program?

Ag Adventures provide opportunities for students to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and get their hands dirty in the soil – all while learning about BC’s agriculture and food story! The program involves 90-120 minute tours providing education on BC agriculture subjects including soil, pollinators, water preservation, growing zones, the Agriculture Land Reserve, invasive species, greenhouses, crop rotation, and more!

Are you looking for an opportunity to get outside and put your gardening and teaching skills to good use? If so, BCAITC is looking for you to lead K-12 Ag Adventures!

Interested in Volunteering?

“BCAITC volunteers are people passionate about agriculture who want to give back to their community!  We greatly appreciate the work they are doing to help educate and spread the word about BC’s amazing agriculture and food story.”
